Interesting facts about cork
The cork oak has a property that sets it apart from other plants: its valuable bark develops faster and in a thickness that no other tree does. This valuable bark provides the sought-after material. The cork oak is peeled by hand and then processed further.

Pro climate - harvesting instead of felling

The tree does not have to be felled to peel the bark, because it renews itself again and again and is available for harvesting every nine years. This produces a 100 percent renewable raw material for various industries. Peeling the bark has another advantage: a peeled tree binds three times as much CO2 as an unused tree. Cork oak forests therefore improve our climate sustainably. Natural cork is also 100 percent recyclable.
